Quality Control for Electronics Manufacturing

The problem

ElectroParts was catching defects at final inspection, but by then they'd already wasted materials and assembly time. They wanted to catch problems earlier in the production process. Manual inspection was inconsistent and slow.

What we built

We installed cameras at three inspection points and trained computer vision models to detect defects. The system checks solder quality, component placement, and surface finish in real-time. It flags problems immediately so operators can stop and adjust the line.

Defects caught early increased from 20% to 85%. Scrap costs dropped $2.4M annually. The line runs 15% faster because final inspection is no longer a bottleneck. ROI was achieved in 8 months.
